Improving the lives of burned children
Michael Mathis founded the Burned Children Recovery Foundation in 1989. Since then, the Foundation has supported tens of thousands of burned children and their families throughout their recovery and rehabilitation.
As a burn survivor, Michael knows the pain and difficulties burned children face while healing and returning to society. His dedication to making life a little easier for these kids and their families led him to establish Phoenix House and Camp Phoenix.
Controlling the pain and the anger from the name calling or rude staring is difficult. Phoenix House and Camp Phoenix are dedicated to help young burn survivors from all over the United States overcome these feelings by:

Helping them accept what has happened to them and learn how to deal with day to day problems and how society will respond to them

Teaching them skills needed to rise above difficulties and harassment they will likely face in society

Giving them tools to help them enjoy life to the fullest

Teaching them how to educate those who do not understand what it means to be a burn survivor

Currently, Camp Phoenix is a one week experience where campers are equipped with tools that help them regain self-confidence and rediscover the joy and wonder of life while having fun with other burn survivors and community members.
Your support of the Ryan Stiles Celebrity Golf Classic will help the Burned Children Recovery Foundation expand Phoenix House and Camp Phoenix into a year-round facility, as well as bring in more campers who cannot attend due to financial constraints and limited facilities.
